Learning from Japan effort to Revitalization the Rural Area in Noto Island

Japan has been known as one of the advance country in Asia. After the World War II, Japan became the leading country in Asia, and after the war Japan came into the first baby boom phenomena in 1941 to 1947 period and after that the 1971 to 1974 period. Tokyo became one of the crowded city in the World, and as the face of Japan, it became the Japan became popular as a crowded nation. But in contrary, since 1970’s Japan have entered the aging society. The elderly people demograpich in Japan have become a quarter of it’s total population, and from statistical forecast, in 2050 Japan elderly population will became 40 percent of the population. Even if Tokyo was known as one of the crowded city in the world, people from the rural area, especially young people have left and people who live in the rural area was and elderly people. Japanese government have realize the problem and have come up with several action plan to solve three Japanese problem of declining birthrate, aging society, and economy stagnation. One of the action plan was to revitalize the rural area. In December 2015, I have an opportunity to visit one of the rural area in Noto Island, in Kanazawa prefecture and see the revitilazation process in those area. In this paper I will describe what the Japanese government have done to these area and how we can learn the revitalization of rural area in Indonesia.
