Dr. Elisa Carolina Marion, S.S., M.Si.
Dr. Elisa Carolina Marion is a senior faculty member in Japanese Studies at BINUS University with over 18 years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and academic leadership. Since 2006, she has been actively involved in Japanese language and culture education, and since 2008, she has taken on multiple structural and managerial roles within the university.
Her scholarly expertise spans Japanese linguistics, business communication, corporate culture studies, and honorific language. She is deeply engaged in promoting Japanese Studies in both national and international contexts. Dr. Marion has presented her work at various academic conferences and served as a speaker and moderator in events such as Japanscope by The Japan Foundation, and the AAS-in-Asia conferences held in South Korea, India, Thailand, and Nepal.
As a certified data scientist, she integrates computational methods into humanities research. She is also the initiator of the Digital Humanities Community at BINUS University and in Jakarta, supported by grants from The Japan Foundation and internal research funding. Her current focus is on applying digital tools to Japanese language discourse analysis, manga studies, and cultural representation in media.
In addition to her academic work, Dr. Marion is a seasoned trainer and workshop facilitator. She has conducted corporate training on Japanese business culture and communication for companies preparing professionals for overseas placement. She is also frequently invited to give public lectures and motivational talks, especially to young learners and educators in cross-cultural education.
Dr. Marion is passionate about building meaningful collaborations in Japanese Studies, language pedagogy, and digital humanities. She welcomes invitations for joint research, speaking engagements, and educational partnerships.
